The band was formed in 1982. After a number of years and several name changes we finally settled on the name “The Big Swing Band”.
In the early days we played mainly 1920’s British dance band music. However over the years we have gradually moved on to playing the classic and popular swing tunes of Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and Count Basie.
Nowadays, we also play more modern big band numbers from the repertoires of Bill Holman, Gordon Goodwin and Frank Mantooth as well as arrangements that have been especially written for the band by current and former players.
